2008年、オラファー・エリアソンが約１５００万ドルをかけてニューヨークに仮設の滝を４つ作った。
The project was in collaboration with the Public Art Fund and the City of New York.　The waterfall was lit up at night.
このプロジェクトはニューヨーク市と公的資金のサポートで行われた。夜間、この滝は照明で浮かび上がる。

When I visit the Brooklyn Bridge, the waterfall was not working. Then I dropped by　The River Cafe at the foot of a bridge.
ブルックリンブリッジを訪ねてみると、その日、噴水は可動していなかった。そこで、橋のたもとのレストランに立ち寄った。

I found a sign of apology in the cafe.
“Please pardon our appearance. The garden and windows at The River Cafe have been badly damaged by The Waterfall Project.” A waiter complained that all plants perished since the waterfall spreads salt water.

店内にこんな表示を見つけた。「外観に関してお詫び申し上げます。リバーカフェの窓と植物は、滝のプロジェクトによって非常にダメージを受けてしまいました。」ウェイターに聞くと、「滝が川の塩水を撒き散らすので、すべて植物が枯れてしまった」とこぼしていた。

What a dynamic water column! It seems as if jets of rocket engines.
ダイナミックな水柱。橋脚がまるでロケットのジェットのよう。

The Futuroscope amusement park is located near Poitiers, France. There is a Big lake in center of the park. At night, water screen show fascinated visitors. I took this photo at the same lake. I think it is simple and beautiful.
フューチュロスコープは、フランスのポワティエにあるテーマパーク。敷地中央に大きな湖があり、夜間はそこで噴水に映像を投影するショーが人気を博す。その湖の端に立つ柱に、水のジェットの演出が施されていた。シンプルだけど美しい。

“Oops, I can’t move. The water was low until just a minute ago.”
「キャー、出られない。ついさっきまで水が低かったのに！」

Which is better? Wait until the water stops coming out, or move and get wet.
どうしましょう。水が止まるまで待つか、濡れても歩いて出るか。

The Futuroscope amusement park is located near Poitiers. It takes 1h30 from Paris by TGV. While most attractions uses high-tech virtural reality, that is, 3D cinema and motion ride, this fountain uses simple mechanism. It is located is “children’s world.”

フューチュロスコープは、パリから列車で南西に1時間半の場所にあるテーマパーク。３Ｄ映像やバーチャルリアリティのモーションライドを駆使したアトラクションが多い。ハイテク尽くしの敷地内で、この噴水は単純なアトラクションに位置づけられており、キッズコーナーの敷地にある。

“Situated right in the commercial centre of Cordoba, this charismatic square, together with the fountain in the middle, was reopened after reforms in 1999. The fountain’s modern design and imaginative lighting stand side by side with the traditional equestrian statue of the Gran Capitan, supported by circular and square pillars. On either side of the fountain, thirty-two jets of water shoot up from the ground, which cool a little the baking summer air and provide endless fun for children.”

This fountain is is located in the center of the street. People can walk straight when the water does not appear. When water started to spout out, you can touch the water. But take care, it it suddenly become high.

通りの中央にある噴水。水が出ていないときは、すぐ傍を歩いていくことができる。水が吹き出しはじめたら、手を延ばして水に触れることができる。でも突然、水が高くなるので、お気をつけあそばせ。

蒸し暑い日には、水のドームを作って入りたいものです。ニューヨークに、ウォータードームのメガ・ソーラーパークを作ったり、ハドソンリバーに水の船を浮かべたりしたいものです。川の水をろ過して使えば、川がキレイになると同時に、観光の目玉となる水の場が完成します。
The Water Dome Ferry is a park of water and green, floating in the East River. A deck with a 20 meter diameter is covered with hemispherical water flows with a 10 meter diameter. At night the wall surface becomes a water screen. People can take a walk, and can look at scenery of New York over water by sitting on the bench. In the bottom of the ship, there are a pump that pumps water from the river and filtering equipment. After having purified water here, water spouts out from the central pipe of the ship radially. Every time the Water Dome Park makes a sight-seeing tour, the purification of the river is promoted.

The Water Dome Solar Park is a symbol of solar and clean technology. The deck is covered by solar panel. In the bottom of the water dome, there is a pump that pumps water taking from the river. People can enter through the opening in the flowing water without get wet. Standing surrounded by the eight meters in diameter dome-shaped curtain of running water from a pipe with a height of four meters, you can enjoy sense of being covered your entire body with it. This new fountain not only fills the human 5 senses, but also functions as a water screen at night. While former fountains can only be viewed from outside, the Water dome parks makes everybody the leading role, letting them share sensations obtainable from water beyond the frontiers of language and nationality.
